Signing of the SHARE financing contract

In the Ministry of Labor and Pension System on June 19, 2018, a ceremonial signing of the Grant Agreement to the Ministry of Labor and Pension System – Pension System Administration for the implementation of the project “SHARE – Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement” was held. The value of the project is about 10 million HRK. The agreement was signed by Minister of Labor and Pension System Marko Pavić, Director of the Croatian Employment Service Ante Lončar and Assistant Minister Melita Čičak.

Minister Pavić reminded that SHARE was launched in 2004 and that the Republic of Croatia is proactively involved in its activities. He stressed that the implementation of this study is a step forward in the modernization of our institutions.

“In Croatia, we are preparing a pension reform that will be in the Government procedure in September, and then in Parliament through two readings and should enter into force on January 1 next year,” said the Minister, adding that analyses and data collected by the study SHARE will be of great importance.

The Ministry of Labor and Pension System (which is the Managing Authority of the Operational Program “Effective Human Resources 2014-2020”) made a Decision on financing the operation of the Ministry of Labor and Pension System – Pension Administration – “SHARE – Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe” on April 26, 2018.

The aim of the operation is to increase the knowledge and skills of staff in labour market institutions in the field of data collection, use of data for the design, adoption and implementation of evidence-based policy measures and the development of national instruments for their evaluation.

In addition to the representatives of the Ministry, Associate Professor Šime Smolić, PhD, and Associate Professor Ivan Čipin, PhD, from the Faculty of Economics & Business in Zagreb (Partner in the project), and Ms Kathrin Axt from SHARE-ERIC.

SHARE Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe is a multidisciplinary international panel database on the health, socio-economic status and social and family ties of more than 140,000 individuals aged 50 or older. SHARE covers 27 European countries and Israel.
